What is coaching?

What is coaching I hear you ask? Put simply, coaching is partnering with a client in a process that helps the client achieve their goals by maximising their personal or professional potential. You – the client - are in charge of the process. All the answers, actions and capacity to move forward lay with you. My role as the coach is to encourage you to explore issues you would like to address, help you set goals to address them, and guide you to make a tangible action plan to move forward.

I work with all kinds of clients, many of whom are neurodivergent or a parent or carer to neurodivergent kids. Here are the kinds of goals my clients set:

  • I will create a manageable system to stop small daily tasks from dominating my life

  • I will get a handle on my finances

  • I will learn to advocate for my needs

  • I will find a new job that supports my neurotype

  • I will master using declarative language

  • I will carve out time for myself so I can show up as a parent

  • I will become a fierce advocate for my child

And here’s the good news: coaching methodology is based in science (woohoo!) using evidence-based approaches to meet clients where they are at and start kicking goals (the one and only sports coaching metaphor I’ll use).
